Dr. Sheylyn Schweinfurth PT, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Dr. Sheylyn Schweinfurth graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Minor in Nutrition Sciences. She then continued her education at Cleveland State University becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Dr. Shey's interest in pelvic floor physical therapy sparked the summer prior to beginning physical therapy school, encouraging her to pursue further education in the specialty of pelvic health from the Herman & Wallace Institute and completing a full-time clinical rotation treating this population. She has found her passion treating pregnant and postpartum women, but also enjoys treating all pelvic health and orthopedic conditions (including the TMJ!) with a focus on manual therapy and purposeful movement! Sheylyn values maintaining a healthy lifestyle by moving her body in ways that are enjoyable, eating whole foods, and not taking life too seriously. In her free time you may find her hiking with her dog, trying new restaurants with her husband, or traveling to gain new experiences!
I had such an amazing experience with Sheylyn at Pillar, I wish I would have found her sooner! Despite being 4 years postpartum I still struggled with a weak pelvic floor which was contributing to other problems (vaginal discomfort and hip pain). After just a few visits, my vaginal discomfort was practically nonexistent and my hip pain was much less noticeable. Sheylyn always took time to demonstrate and explain how to do [my] exercises. I feel much more confident in my ability to engage my pelvic floor and can certainly tell a difference in my workouts.
